Synopsis

Welcome to my level 3 Audio Project 1 blog. I aim to produce an EP and release it under my alias ‘Vin McLo’. I’ll be using this blog to record my progress during the production of the EP. It will consist of 4 musical pieces, at least three of which will contain vocal parts. Any music I refer to and/or use as benchmarks within this blog can be listened to within my reference playlist on the ‘Bibliography and Reference Playlist‘ page.

My Aim

– To produce a new EP containing 4 musical pieces using new and improved production techniques following my last EP. You can listen to my last EP for free on Bandcamp by clicking HERE.

Objectives

1. Improve upon my time management skills.

2. Collaborate with at least 2 other people (for extra instrumentation or vocals).

3. Record more instrumentation. Although my EP is mainly going to contain electronic-based music, extra instrumentation will only better my music.

4. Produce more content than the previous EP (which was only eleven minutes long). I want to surpass the eleven-minute mark.

Learning Outcomes

1.  Develop my understanding of making my mixes ‘fuller’ using stereo field and dimension.

2. Establish ways in which to develop project management skills and apply these skills to the production process of my EP.

3.  Develop methods of writing music in terms of idea generation with a focus on melody using references from other artists and industry professionals.

4. Learns ways of gaining a successful vocal recording in preparation and recording.

5. Establish and implement current industry-standard methods of music promotion.
